Tomatoes and Okras

This is our first harvest from our vegetable garden.

We planted only one Cheery tomato and one better big boy tomato. We got two okra plants this year. The eggplants, green bell pepper, yellow and red bell pepper, tobasco, and squash do not have mature enough plants to be harvested, but they're getting there. There are a lot of Okra and tomatoes waiting to be harvested soon.

Buying Garden Accents and Supplies On Sale

The best time to buy more gardening tools and garden supplies is during the end fall season when most garden stores have their gardening tools and attractive garden or patio accent, including most perennial plants on sale. Last year, we got these metal hanging planter with coco fiber linings.

We were not planning to buy another hanging baskets but the price was too good to resist. We got these baskets for 75% off its original price. We just have to keep them on the shed until this Spring.

Last fall, we also got more garden statue and gnomes .

Painted Lady Hibiscus

This is the same Hibiscus plant that gave showy hibiscus flowers last year. Middle of Spring last year, we moved our Hibiscus plants in big containers. Since Hibiscus plants are annuals in our zone, we hid them inside the house after their season and brought them back outside after the last frost this year.

Our two Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis or "Painted Lady" hibiscuses got shocked of the heat when we got them out. For days they had lost leaves but after couple of weeks, they got new leaves and started growing good. Now they started blooming again.

Coleus Colors to Accent Garden Bed

I got several Stella De Oro Daylilies in different garden beds around our yard. I noticed that this one particular flower bed, with the Stella De Oro Daylilies blooming wild and Golden Euonymous is too yellow, so I moved my Coleus that are on pots to add more colors in the garden bed.

I just planted the Salvia in the pots today to add colors. Once the newly planted Salvia grows bigger, I might moved back the Coleus in a semi-shade area since this foliage plant loves sun to shade areas.

Stella de Oro Daylilies

We planted these Stella de Oro Daylilies last year and these sun perennial came back this year profusely blooming fragrant, golden-yellow trumpet flowers.

Stella De Oro Day Lilies

Stella de Oro which means Star of Gold are low-maintenance perennial, under the daylily genus, Hemerocallis. They are the best well known day lilies. They are deer resistant and great for massing, edging or borders. Stella de Oro Daylilies are also great in mixed containers and tubs. Although the individual blooms of Stella de Oro daylilies last for just one day but the plant sends up new flowering stalks on its stems. They are excellent rebloomers over a long period, you won't noticed that the individual flower only blooms for a day because its flowering continuously. Stella de Oro daylilies loves full sun to partial shade areas .
